Wednesday: IR is all about data now

It’s Wednesday so it’s investor reporting today, and an exclusive peek at some survey data as the IR, Marketing and Comms Forum kicks off in New York.

It’s day one of Private Equity International’s Investor Relations, Marketing & Communications Forum in New York today. Professionals from CCMP, Warburg Pincus, Carlyle and many others will be swapping notes. Many of the discussions are taking place under Chatham House rules, but our reporters Brian Bonilla and Connor Hussey will be on the ground to gather insights.

IR teams work hand-in-glove with finance teams and are often the same people; the storytellers need data. Speaking of data, we have some exclusively from fund services business AltaReturn, which surveyed 74 private fund CFOs. 81 percent of GPs are receiving requests for more customized reporting from investors. Portfolio company information was the number one area in which LPs were asking for more information, cited by 70 percent of respondents. The second area of enhanced information requests? Fees.

Does your firm have cross asset class ambitions? This report from our sister publication Private Debt Investor’s CFOs and COOs Forum is worth a read.
